Compression lugs — sometimes called crimp lugs or cable lugs — provide the terminated end of a stranded power cable, presenting a flat ring-tongue with a hole for bolting to a bus bar, stud, or terminal. Our tinned brass compression lugs are manufactured from C26000 cartridge brass (28% IACS electrical conductivity) — chosen over copper for better cost-performance in mid-amperage applications, and over aluminum for compatibility with the diverse range of conductor materials (copper, aluminum, copper-clad aluminum) encountered in industrial electrical systems. The lug body is electroplated with pure tin at 8μm minimum thickness, providing two key benefits: (1) tin prevents galvanic corrosion at the lug-to-aluminum-conductor interface, and (2) tin maintains low contact resistance over the 25-30 year service life of typical industrial electrical installations. Crimping is performed in the field using a calibrated hydraulic or pneumatic crimping tool — we supply the matching crimp die specification for each lug size to ensure repeatable crimp quality. The wire range covers 14 AWG (smallest control wire) through 1000 kcmil (largest power feeder) — across this range we offer stud holes of 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", and 5/8" to match standard bus-bar bolt patterns. Operating temperature ratings are 75°C continuous (general industrial) and 90°C continuous (high-temperature applications). Production dimensions follow CSA 22.2 No.65 requirements, suitable for installations following NEC 2023 Article 110 AL/CU connection practice. Color-coded plastic insulating sleeves available in bulk packaging — sized for each AWG range — for additional dielectric and strain-relief protection at the lug-to-cable transition.
