Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor housings provide the threaded brass interface between the engine cooling system passage and the ECT sensor that reports coolant temperature back to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). Our IATF 16949:2016 produced ECT housings are CNC-machined from C36000 free-machining brass — sometimes upgraded to C37700 for higher pressure applications, or C26000 cartridge brass for specific OEM specifications. We produce to print: every part starts from the OEM 2D drawing, 3D STEP file, or physical sample, and is engineered through our partner facility's full PPAP Level 3 process (or PPAP Levels 1, 2, 4, 5 by customer specification) including FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plan, Process Flow Diagram, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and capability studies achieving Cpk ≥ 1.67 on critical dimensions. Thread sizes commonly specified are M12×1.5 (European OEMs), M10×1.0 (Japanese OEMs), M14×1.5 (heavy truck), 1/8" NPT and 1/4" NPT (North American legacy). Custom thread forms produced from OEM tooling drawings. The 6H thread tolerance is gauged 100% on the threaded port using a calibrated GO/NO-GO ring gauge. The sensor seat (typically a 24° conical face or a flat sealing face with copper washer) is finished to ≤1.6 µm Ra surface roughness to ensure leak-tight sealing in service. Finish options: natural brass, electroless nickel (corrosion resistance), zinc-nickel (heavy-duty corrosion), or chrome (cosmetic). MOQ 500 pieces; standard lead time 6-10 weeks for existing tooling, 10-14 weeks for new PPAP submission and tooling.
